Throughout our schools we aim to teach children:
- to tell an adult they trust if something they see something which upsets them online
- about the impact of cyber-bullying and what to do if they have been affected
- to be vigilant when communicating online recognising that people may not always be who they say they are and to be sensible about what they share
- to question the reliability of information given through a web based source
- to search responsibly for information while using internet browsers
- not to share personal details online.
We have a comprehensive online safety policy along with acceptable use policies for staff and pupils, these are available to view on our school policies page.
We understand that much of our pupil's use of the internet will occur at home, away from the school filters. it is important that schools, parents and carers work together to take an active role in teaching children about online dangers. Learning how to act safely when using the internet is an incredibly important part of safeguarding our children. Most children today have access to the Internet through a variety of different devices, at home and at school – through phones, tablets, games consoles, laptops and PCs. They play games and use apps that allow them to chat with other children, share videos and photos and make in game purchases.
It can be hard to keep up to date with all the apps and games that are available to your children but we hope to be able to help you by providing information on this page. Below are a list of useful websites, advice and resources that you may find helpful when navigating the issue of online safety with your child. At the bottom of this page are resources that your child can directly access as well to help them learn about online safety.
