At Ladysmith Federation we believe that all children need nurture and support in order to become their best selves. We are committed to the full social and emotional development of each unique child. Link is our specialist programme, used at the Infant and Nursery School, that supports this.
Link is explicitly based on current brain research. The children know that they are growing their brains which will help them become a healthy and resilient person: ‘link’ is a ‘brain boost.’
‘Link’ is based on recognising and supporting the 4 core emotions: happiness, sadness, fear and anger. Link is future focussed, always helping / gently guiding your child to make their next step.
‘Link’ is for all children within our school and is delivered universally: in the classrooms and at playtimes as a whole school ethos. However, we understand that some children may need more support than others and those children we be offered a bespoke ‘Link’ programme to address their specific needs. They may have individual time with a ‘Link’ practitioner or they may be part of a small group.

Link sessions have creativity and curiosity at their heart and children will explore their world through practical activities and stories designed to promote conversation and reflection. We teach many strategies that can help a child in the wider world of school and their community. We want each child to grow in confidence and self-esteem.
We value parental involvement very highly and can create Home Programmes to support Link children. These contain fun and easy strategies and activities to support children at home.
Our Link Practitioner is Lucy Pearce who is an experienced higher level teaching assistant.
